The Trip of a Lifetime

from Linda and Scott

Our trip was everything we were hoping it would be. Africa certainly is a special place. A number of people have asked what our favourite thing/place/experience was and honestly it’s impossible to say.

We wouldn’t change any of our accommodation choices. The Royal Livingston was a stunning hotel, giraffes and zebras wandering around was the perfect start to our trip. The Zambezi Queen was a relaxing three nights and we felt very spoilt. A highlight was our village visit. Even the Namibian visa experience was not a worry, though why we needed to fill out the same form we’d already lodged online is a mystery.

Cape Town is a beautiful city and we had a fun time exploring. Penguins on the beach and our winery day were highlights. Gold Restaurant was such a great night out, the drumming experience was a lot of fun. Scott was very ill for one entire day so I’m very glad we had 5 nights there.

My favourite thing was our time at Savanna Lodge. I loved the whole safari experience, our morning and afternoon drives always felt so special (morning coffee and afternoon sundowners were a definite winner). Jamie our guide and Ronald our tracker went above and beyond. They obviously love what they do. The different dinners each night were spectacular. I thought arriving back from our first safari to be met by twinkling hurricane lanterns and dinner in a vintage train carriage was special but then the next three nights were equally beautiful. An outdoor Boma dinner with a local youth choir, a private dinner in our room was a romantic highlight. Another outdoor dinner in a different location for our final night. We appreciated our send off, hugs all round from the staff, including Jamie and Ronald.

Thank you so much Lindy for all your help with organising what really was the trip of a lifetime.
