Mbalageti Tented Camp
Mbalageti Tented Camp is situated in the Western corridor of Tanzania's Serengeti National Park, on the slopes of the Mwamveni hill, and has panoramic views of the Serengeti plain and Mbalageti River. The lodge consists of 14 standard en-suite lodge rooms, 24 luxury en-suite tented chalets and 2 executive suites each with 2 en-suite bedrooms and a large dinning room area. In the main lodge building there is a bar and restaurant with a lounge loft supplied with puzzles and games as well as a selection of books and magazines. The lodge has a swimming pool built of local rocks, and located on the side of the hill to give panoramic views of the landscape. There is also a tranquility pool and massage boma. Every afternoon, tea and a selection of home-baked pastries are served in the tea garden.
The migration is usually here between about May and July, although the riverine forest areas of the Western Corridor have some good permanent game – and so can be visited at any time of year.
Destinations Africa Comment – The chalets are spaced quite widely apart so there can be quite a distance to walk to get to reception and dining. Although this camp is referred to as a “luxury” one, it would not be considered luxury in South Africa. Meals were pretty ordinary. This lodge is however regarded as good value for money. There is no mobile phone reception.
