2. SNOWS OF KILIMANJARO

Rising 5896 meters high, snow capped and wreathed in veils of clouds, stands Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa and the highest free standing mountain in the world. The Rongai route starts just south of the Kenya /Tanzania border and is one of the quieter routes of Kilimanjaro. It is also renowned for having the easiest ascent and considered more beautiful than the Marangu main trail.

The Rongai route begins in attractive farmland and delightful forest, with the possibility of wildlife viewing. It passes through several different climate zones, adding considerably to the interest of the trek. We also add an extra day to the standard five-day itinerary to ensure maximum acclimatization and allowing ourselves the best possible chance to enjoy the magnificent scenery. This route retains a sense of unspoilt wilderness and offers a different perspective on Kilimanjaro by approaching it from the north.

3. LIVINGSTONE & VICTORIA FALLS

Described by the Kololo tribe living in the area in the 1800s as 'Mosi-oa-Tunya' - 'the Smoke that Thunders' and in more modern terms as 'the greatest known curtain of falling water', the Victoria Falls are a spectacular sight of awe-inspiring beauty and grandeur on the Zambezi River, bordering Zambia and Zimbabawe. Columns of spray can be seen from miles away as 546 million cubic meters of water per minute plummet over the edge (at the height of the flood season) over a width of nearly two kilometres into a gorge over 100 metres deep. The wide basalt cliff, over which the falls thunder, transforms the Zambezi from a wide placid river to a ferocious torrent cutting through a series of dramatic gorges.

6. FAMILY SAFARIS IN ZAMBIA

A number of lodges in Zambia are child-friendly and welcome families. We also have a number of family houses, which are ideal for the whole family - these are located at the Victoria Falls, South Luangwa National Park and Lower Zambezi in Zambia. The essential idea with these houses is that the whole family can stay together utilising 3 or 4 bedrooms under the same roof. You would also have your own staff to provide meals and take care of the children as well as having access to your own guide for game drives and walks (services differ between camps). It is a very exclusive and novel way for your family to experience Africa together!

  • Save $230 to $345 per family of 4-5 per night per family with 2 adults, every 2nd child is free (the youngest upward being the free child) i.e. family of 4 or 5, the youngest is free. Applicable at Nkwali, Robin's House, Luangwa Safari House in South Luangwa National Park and Chongwe River House in the Zambezi Valley. Applicable for children 16 and under.
