The unique Savanna Private Game Reserve is situated in the world renowned Sabi Sand Game Reserve, which borders South Africa's famous Kruger National Park. Savanna encompasses the very essence of an Out of Africa camp and accommodation includes three executive and four luxury tented suites which combine the romance of a tented roof, with the sophistication of a permanent structure that ensures luxury and privacy. The Savanna Suite is a traditional thatch roofed building designed to offer high levels of elegance and comfort.
The Savanna Suite comprises two separate, en suite bedrooms each with a plunge pool and separated by a large lounge and dining room a fully equipped kitchen, all under thatch. There is a television with multi-channel access and a DVD player in the lounge. The three rooms are linked by corridors which make the Savanna Suite ideal for families. A private guide and tracker complete the Savanna Suite experience. Guests may choose to have their meals privately, or to join the other guests.
State of the art Landrovers are used for game drives and have been expertly modified to ensure your safety and comfort. To maximize photographic opportunities there are never more than two people in a row on the Landrovers and never more than two vehicles at a sighting. The afternoon game drive is purposefully interrupted for sundowners to witness an African sunset, and the absolute peace and quiet of the bush.
Optional walking safaris are conducted daily, in order to experience the beauty and fascination of Africa's flora and fauna.
Bush dinners and bush breakfasts are on request, weather permitting. Daily trips from the lodge to the local Shangaan Village and a tour of the scenic Panorama route are offered. These activities are offered during the day and will not affect participation in the daily game drives and are at an additional direct cost.
As part of an on going outreach programme, Savanna has targeted two schools in the Gazankulu area as beneficiaries for donations and funding. Guests visiting Savanna are offered an authentic Shangaan Village tour. Mr Lucky Mkasi, organiser of these tours, gives the guests a traditional experience of local Village life. Part of the tour consists of a visit to the witchdoctor, the chief, the Chivakani Preschool and the Ian Mackenzie High School. Guests are encouraged to taste local fare which is provided on the tour. Of the rate charged for this tour, Savanna has added on an amount which is kept for the specific purpose of assisting the two schools with equipment and general upkeep.
