Madikwe Safari Lodge

Madikwe is famed for Operation Phoenix, which was the world’s largest game translocation exercise, successfully introducing more than 8000 animals of twenty eight varying species. Madikwe boast the ‘Super Seven’ including the Big Five (lion, rhino - both black and white-, elephant, buffalo and leopard) with the addition of cheetah and a thriving population of endangered wild dog. Spotted and brown hyena and a rich biodiversity of mammals make for very rewarding game-viewing. Three hundred and fifty species of birds have been identified, including the rare morph yellow-form crimson shrike and numerous raptors.

Madikwe Safari Lodge is a new destination in the 76000-hectare Madikwe Game Reserve – malaria free. On a gentle slope nestled between two rolling hills, the lodge overlooks game-filled plains with the Dwarsberg and Rant van Tweedepoort range forming a purple-hued backdrop.

Madikwe Safari Lodge consists of three exclusive, intimate camps – totalling sixteen suites – with a simple yet sophisticated Madikwe style.

Safari activities include morning and afternoon/evening game-drive in open game-viewing vehicles led by CC Africa-trained rangers who deliver a world-class interpretive experience of the bush. Photographic opportunities of the reserve’s fauna, flora and varied topography are excellent.
