Chobe National Park

Chobe National Park has an aura of the Africa of old. Vast endless landscapes, open plains, baobab trees and the ancient woodland dominate the panorama.

The wildlife roams in profusion and diversity. The elephant population, estimated to number in excess of 35 000, is the largest single concentration in Africa surviving within the confines of a proclaimed National Park. During the harsh dry season, the herds migrate from south to north and congregate along the perennial Chobe River and fertile floodplains. The sight is spectacular and unforgettable; red winter sunsets, elephant and buffalo in their thousands.

Other major species such as lion, wild dog, sable and roan antelope are encountered in many areas of the reserve. Out on the open plains of the Savute and Mababe, wildebeest, zebra and buffalo concentrate in large herds. Within the riverine thickets, the nocturnal leopard and rare Chobe bushbuck are often observed. Birdlife is abundant and diverse with over 450 species recorded. Chobe National Park covers 11 700 square kilometers of pristine wilderness, an immeasurable heritage for tomorrows generations and one of the most exciting safari destinations in Africa today.
