Jack's Camp
Jack’s Camp lies on the edge of the Kalahari Desert surrounded by vast open expanses of semi desert and the Makgadikgadi Pans. The camp nestles among shady acacias and palm trees and offers guests large, classic East African tents, positioned for maximum privacy and unsurpassed views over the desert. An atmosphere of a bygone era has been created by using wrought iron beds and carefully chosen relics of yesteryear. This is Africa a la Hemmingway, rustic, simple and elegant with careful attention to detail and surprising luxuries in the bone handled silver, the tea-tent with its Persian carpets and overstuffed cushions. The tents have an adjacent open-air flush w/c and separate bucket shower (hot water always available on request).
In the wet season, the pans fill with water and become one of the most important wetlands in Africa, attracting huge flocks of flamingo’s as well as the annual zebra and wildebeest migration.
Jack’s Camp is a place to relax and rejuvenate, to explore the region learning about the history of the people and the creatures in this magnificent “emptiness”. Guests can walk with a Bushman tracker, drive with qualified botanists/zoologists or take a 4x4 quad bike out onto the saltpans. All meals and drinks are included.
