Eagle Island Camp

Eagle Island Camp lies deep within the Okavango Delta, on an island called Xaxaba. It is a true Botswana paradise, hidden from the world. The camp offers a cool retreat from the African sun and is shaded by a canopy of indigenous trees, overlooking a lagoon in one of the Delta’s most pristine, natural locations – a mosaic of waterways, palm-treed islands and vast floodplains.

The area offers exceptionally high quality wildlife viewing as well as prolific birdlife and, arguably, one of the most romantic bars in the world – the Fish Eagle Bar.

Twelve secluded, private, luxury tents with en suite facilities are set on raised decks overlooking the lagoon. Each tent is equipped with individual gas geysers, his-and-hers vanity units, a fully stocked minibar, a private viewing deck complete with a hammock and easy chairs.

The tents are linked by raised wooden walkways and equipped with telephones linking them to reception as well as tent-to-tent. Power is supplied to the tents twenty-four hours a day as each tent has an overhead fan and lighting, a heater for chilly winter nights and a discreet air-conditioner as well as plug points for an electric razor, digital camera or laptop computer.

The main area of the camp has separate dining and lounge areas with views over the surrounding floodplains, a fireplace and lounge area, a swimming pool and extensive grounds.

Guests are offered a variety of wildlife activities including exploring the waterways by mokoro, sundowner trips on the lagoon on a motorised boat, morning and evening game drives, guided walks and fishing. At an optional additional direct cost, guests can take a helicopter game-viewing flight or opt for an indulgent “Naturally Wild” spa treatment in the privacy of their own tents.
