Baines’ Camp

Set amongst the shady trees and water of the Okavango Delta, the small intimate Baines’ Camp features just five luxurious suites set on elevated platforms in the tree line.  Wooden decks offer expansive views over the permanent water of the Boro River and a lagoon teeming with life.  The elevated suites feature a spacious bedroom, with softly drapped fabrics adding a romantic touch of a bygone era.  The four-poster beds are fully mobile, giving guests the choice of slumber under star laden skies.

The exclusive lodge is named after famed nineteenth century explorer and artist, Sir Thomas Baines.  The inspiration for Baines’s paintings is evident when looking at the waterscape that lies beyond the lodge.  The main area features an oversize deck for outdoor dining and views over the permanent water of the lagoon, as well as swimming pool for refreshing sunbathing.

The area is situated on a private concession neighbouring the Moremi, which is superb for viewing all animal and bird species.  Guest may explore by land and water, in customized, open 4X4 vehicles, and water safaris in poled mokoro’s or from a comfortable motorboat, often into the night, to discover nocturnal species.  Sometimes there is no better way to tune into the bush than on foot, and walking safaris will be a specialty at Baines’.  The unique and educational elephant interaction at Stanley’s Camp, will be available at Baines’ Camp.
